Sam Samba has entered a competition on his favourite TV programme 'Jungle Watch.' The prize is a safari for him and his family to the Tengoa National Park in Zimzainia. Sam wins and his somewhat reluctant mother, father and sister are persuaded by the programme's producer to head off to Africa with him. Here they encounter lions and monkeys and many other dangers. Sam finds Caracticus the lion with a thorn in his paw and helps him out. Sam's father runs off and loses their landrover and possessions. Sam's father is then captured by Monkeys but Caracticus changes places with him so he can go free. Eventually all is well and the family find their way home. Themes: being special and chosen, the good Samaritan, the prodigal son and forgiveness, sacrifice and redemption.
